What to do when you’ve had a bereavement

Having purchased a funeral plan from Capital Life, you can take great comfort in the knowledge that when the time comes, your loved ones will not only be guided through the steps required from both Capital Life and the Funeral Director, but they will be spared the additional stress of paying for your funeral. They will also have the peace of mind that it is the send–off you wanted.

The following is a guide for your family/representatives to follow. It is important that your Next of Kin makes contact and speaks to Capital Life before making any funeral arrangements.

  • Next of Kin/Representative calls 24 hour bereavement line on 0800 411 8680 (they will need the Plan Reference Number which can be found on your Capital Life Funeral Plan Certificate)
  • Your allocated Funeral Director will then coordinate directly with your family/representative
  • Capital Life will also liaise with the Funeral Director to ensure all the aspects of the Funeral Plan, including any special requests, are taken care of
  • The Funeral Director will follow the directions set out according to the Funeral Plan and continue to liaise and support your family

We also offer assistance with repatriation. So, should you pass away whilst on holiday, or in a second residence abroad, Capital Life can assist your family with getting you back home.
