Losing a loved one is already an extremely difficult time and this could be made more complicated if that friend or relative has died abroad.
Whilst Capital Life’s funeral plans do not cover the cost of a repatriation service, if the plan holder passes away abroad we will do our best to help and support you in making the necessary arrangements to bring their body back home.
In terms of the steps to take and what to organise when somebody dies abroad it is advised that you:
– Contact the UK Embassy, High Commission or Consulate in the country that your loved one is located in order to get the appropriate advice on what to do next
– If you are on a package holiday it is also appropriate to inform the representative of your travel provider
– A certification of death in the country that your loved one had passed away will be needed in order to arrange the repatriation
Capital Life can help you make the necessary arrangements to sort out repatriation of your loved one. The cost of bringing the deceased home varies depending on where they passed away, but you can take comfort in the knowledge that Capital Life will do their utmost to help to advise on the repatriation service.
